How to Startup Your Dateline

Datelines are typically deployed in stages:
  1. Prior to dateline activation
  2. Dateline Activation - 1st Week
  3. Dateline Activation - 2nd Week
Prior to dateline activation -
  • Preview mode - A single recording is played to all callers, announcing the expected startup date and a brief description of the system and services, should there be any reason for not launching the service immediately.

Dateline Activation - 1st Week
  • Promo mode - This mode may be run for several days prior to the actual pay mode activation date. Free time, in 30 minute blocks, is allocated to all callers during this introductory period. Callers may dialup the system as often as they wish, with a maximum 30 minute limit per-call.

Dateline Activation - 2nd Week
A system is finally activated in one of the following "pay modes":

  1. 900/976 mode - Allows callers to dial a 900/976 phone number to access the system, with billing being handled directly by the phone company (system usage/billing showing up on the caller's monthly phone bill).

  2. Block-of-time mode - Allows billable callers to dial an advertised local phone number to purchase a block-of-time on the system via credit card or site draft (checking account). Once the information has been processed, an account number is provided to the caller. The caller may then dial the advertised Male/Female phone numbers, enter their account number, and use the system as often as they wish, until the purchased block-of-time has been completely depleted (at which point they may purchase additional time to apply to their account).

  3. Flat-rate mode - (ie. "Monthly Billing") Allows billable callers to dial an advertised local phone number to purchase a (pro-rated) monthly access account on the system via credit card or site draft (checking account). Once the information has been processed, an account number is provided to the caller. The caller may then dial the advertised Male/Female phone numbers, enter their account number, and use the system as often as they wish, for a limited amount of time, per-call. Unless the account is terminated, they are automatically billed once per-month, renewing their account subscription.
