Datelines - Phone Line Installation

Full support for DIGITAL T-1 / E-1, or ANALOG (POT)

Line installation is simple. Determine the amount of phone lines you'd like to allocate for call traffic. Our software documentation provides easy-to-follow steps for complete phone line installation and testing. We include recommended line mapping, and punch-block diagrams where applicable.

Although we also support large port configurations, we'll use simple, small port examples below. For a specific phone line installation, select from the following:

  1. Analog (POT) installation
  2. Digital T-1 installation
  3. Digital E-1 installation
Analog (POT) installation -
As an example, suppose you're having 16 loop-start, analog (or "POT" - Plain Old Telephone) business lines installed by the phone company, at your voice server location. If you're launching a 16 port (16 phone line) dateline system, you'll be attaching one end of an AMP telco cable ("amphenol" cable) to the back of your Dialogic D/160SC-LS card, and the other end to a phone company installed RJ-21 (punch block), using the first 16 lines on the punch block.

Note: Installation for a Dialogic D/120JCT-LS 12 port card (12 phone lines) is similar. Simply reduce the number of requested phone lines to 12, and re-adjust the size of your huntgroup(s), accordingly.

You might convey to the phone company that you want the punch block divided into 2 hunt groups (one for men, one for women) or a single hunt group for both genders.

You'll determine the number of phone lines on the punch block, required for each hunt group... ie. line 1 for admin. control and monitoring, lines 2 through 10 (huntgroup 1) for Men (paying subscribers), lines 11 through 16 (huntgroup 2) for Women (whom may use the system for free).

For an optimal setup you would request that both huntgroups be comprised of non-sequential, non-related phone numbers... with assending hunt sequence.

If you prefer a single huntgroup for all callers, rather than 2 gender specific huntgroups, request that the huntgroup be comprised of non-sequential, non-related phone numbers with assending hunt sequence. All callers, will identify their gender (male or female) as they call into the system, hence, routed through their respective gender-specific prompts and features.

Be sure to request all lines have 2 second "supervised switch disconnect" applied (a "translation" on the the phone company switch) to insure immediate line resets when callers hangup. On the DMS-100 switch this "translation" is refered to as C.O.D

Digital T-1 installation -
As another example, suppose you're having a T-1 (24 digital business lines) installed by the phone company. If you're simply launching a 24 port dateline system, you'll be attaching one end of an RJ-45 telco cable (telephone interface) to the back of your Dialogic (D/240JCT-T1 or D/240PCI-T1 or D/240SC-T1) card, and the other end to the phone company installed equipment.

You might convey to the phone company that you want 1 hunt group with the following service and interface:

Line Coding:  B8ZS
Framing:  ESF
Signalling:  ISDN and 24th channel on each T1
D-channel:  each T1 will have it's own D channel
Hunting:  Sequential - Ascending
Dialogic card connector:  RJ-48C

Note: Options for Line Coding/Framing include:

Line Coding:  AMI, AMI with B7 stuffing, B8ZS
Framing:  SF (D3/D4), ESF for ISDN

The single huntgroup (or Trunk) will be accessed by all callers, whom will identify their gender (male or female) as they call into the system, hence, routed through their respective gender-specific prompts and features.

Digital E-1 installation -
As another example, suppose you're having a E-1 (30 digital business lines) installed by the phone company. If you're simply launching a 30 port dateline system, you'll be attaching one end of an RJ-45 or BNC (coax) telco connector (telephone interface) to the back of your Dialogic (D/300JCT-E1 or D/300PCI-E1 or D/300SC-E1) card, and the other end to the phone company installed equipment.

You might convey to the phone company that you want 1 hunt group with the following service and interface:

Line Coding:  HDB3
Framing:  CCITT G.704-1988 with CRC4
Signalling:  ISDN PRI
Hunting:  Sequential - Ascending
Dialogic card connector:  BNC for 75 ohm or RJ-48C for 120 ohm lines

The single huntgroup (or Trunk) will be accessed by all callers, whom will identify their gender (male or female) as they call into the system, hence, routed through their respective gender-specific prompts and features.

Your phone company account rep. will place the order for an installation date and provide you with the actual phone number assignments.

In our documentation, we'll provide the specific, itemized information to configure your Dialogic card/device drivers, place your order with the phone company, verify correct line/huntgroup setup, and configure your software to test and activate your system.

We provide complete 24/7 technical support to licensed users, should any assistance be required during the installation and deployment of your system. Our goal is to have you up and running as rapidly and painlessly as possible.
